Digital client manager

The role in a nutshell:

Reporting into our client services director, we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic digital client manager to join our team. You will be the ‘go to’ person for the majority of our digital work, responsible for taking briefs, scoping and costing digital projects and defining the right team to deliver what’s required – and then managing the project from start to finish. For projects where we need to work with one of our technical partners, part of your role will be defining which one is best suited to the job, working in collaboration with them and managing them as part of the overall management of the project. The role is full time, hybrid, with circa 2 days a week in the London office.

The projects you’re likely to manage fall into 3 broad categories:

  1. Digital projects for existing clients where you’ll work alongside the client director to define the requirement, scope and budget. You’ll be responsible for getting to grips with the brief, writing the proposal and managing the project (working alongside the client director) and this might be working on a client’s website, digital elements of their marketing campaigns or other digital / interactive requirements they may have.
  2. New business digital opportunities: where we get a lead for a purely digital project, you’ll be the key person driving our response, albeit working in partnership with the wider team. You’ll be the digital subject matter expert so will need to be confident getting to grips with new briefs, leading conversations with potential clients to demonstrate our digital expertise and asking the right questions in order to shape our response. You’ll be a key person helping us secure the work – and, once we’ve won it, you’ll then manage our delivery of it. This is most likely to apply to website projects or where you form part of a wider pitch team for cross-media projects (e.g. brand + website or large multi-channel marketing campaigns).
  3. Other accounts and projects beyond digital: when you’re not working on digital projects, your role will also involve working on projects more broadly, including branding, employer branding and marketing services. So if you already have experience managing these types of projects, great. However, it’s digital expertise and experience that is the key criteria for this role, so for the right candidate, with the right attitude and a keenness to develop their skills beyond digital, we would develop and train you in these areas.

Profile:

– Highly experienced (5+ years agency-side) at managing digital projects such as:

  • the development of websites, microsites and other digital and interactive elements we might create for clients to be integrated into their existing websites
  • digital marketing and social media campaigns
  • other digital projects such as website audits, supporting clients with defining their technical roadmap for their total digital estate etc.

– In depth understanding of how to scope, cost, write proposals for and then manage digital projects from start to finish. So comprehensive knowledge and experience of each of the stages involved from discovery and requirements-gathering (including managing the process of defining the technical requirements and parameters) through to UX, design, build, SEO, content generation, management and migration, testing, implementation and ongoing support.

–  Upbeat, positive, with a ‘can do’ attitude, keen to make a difference and, where required, take the lead on digital projects confidently.

–  Collaborative and a people person who works effectively as part of a wider team, whether that’s with colleagues within FB&A or technical partners where a project requires us to work with a partner. We are a close-knit collaborative team who are all very ‘hands on’, take real ownership and work together to deliver great results. The person who takes on this role would need to share this approach and be motivated and excited by the opportunity.

–  Excellent at managing and creating strong relationships with clients, both with the day-to-day nitty gritty and with a view to the bigger picture.

–  Excellent communication and writing skills.

–  Excellent attention to detail, ensuring all proposals, documents, presentations etc. are error-free.

–  Excellent commercial skills, knowing how to cost projects, how to manage both budgets and scopes of work and how to have conversations with clients about budgets in a confident, knowledgeable, grown-up and helpful way.

–  Experienced at using typical work software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and open to working with and being quick to learn if other software is required for a specific client requirement.
